                        Introduction:-

                What is metaphysical poetry?
The term metaphysical or metaphysics in poetry is the fruit of renaissance tree, becoming over ripe and approaching pure science. “Meta” means “beyond” and “physics” means “physical nature”. Metaphysical poetry means poetry that goes beyond the physical world of the senses and explores the spiritual world. Metaphysical poetry began early in the Jacobean age in the last stage of the age of Shakespeare.
In other words,it is types of poetry deling eith abstract or philosophy subject such as a love, religion, god, beauty, faith and so on.
The term metaphysics means something supernatural and transcendental. Its sense is 'what is beyond physical'. It is concerned with fundamental problems of life and death and soul even after death. The term metaphysical poetry means poetry dealing with metaphysical subjects. These subjects are - nature of universe, movements of stars and planets and the whole relationship of man to God
Metphysical poetry occupies a unique place in the history of English poetry.it was written in the post Shakespearean era, during the age of Milton.and it continued upyo the beginning of the restoration age.the main exponants of the metphysical poetry were John donne, who was the pioneer and the poets who followed Donne’s style of writing who were George Herbert,Richard Crashaw, abrahum Cowley and Andrew marwell.John donne and his followers came to be know as the metaphysical school of poetry.
There are certain feature which differentiate their poetry from the poetry of former poet the following are the fetures of metaphysical poetry.
                 i.            All the metaphysical made a conscious attempt to see that their poetry differs in the style of writing from the style of fprmmer poets they did not want to follow the footsteps of the Elizabathan age one critic named Helen.c.white justifies it saying that had they continued writing poetry in the same manner their poetry would have been rejected by the readers the reason was printed facility was available, printed literature was available and so people had cultivated reading habit, and the result was that people werw morw intwligwnt and so they would have rejected metaphysical poetry.ha dthat been written in simplw way
ii.            All the metaphysical poets were h=the degree holders, they werw the men of learnuing and university graduates.they made a conscious attempt to see that their learning and scholarship are reflected in their poetry.they were not willing to use the simple diction as it was done by the former poets they made use of difficult words to exhibit their learning & scholarship
iii.            It was Dr.Semual Johnson who while writing the life sketch of Abrahum Cowley used for the first time the term “the metaphysical poetry” for the poetry of Donne and his school when /Johnson used this word,it was in a negative sense because he wanted to criticize the poetry of Donne and his followers later on with the passing of time this word became a word of praise for the metaphysical poetry.
iv.            Dr.Johnson has higlighted one remarkable draw back of metaphysical poetry.he mentions that the metaphysical poetry stood a trial of their figer.but not the trial of their era.in other words “their poetry is lacking in music and rhythm”D.Johnson discards the metaphysical poetry calling it artificial.
              v.            Almost all the metaohysical poets depended upon the far-fatched images for their poetry.they selected images from those fields ehich have nothing common with poetry.images whish they used belong to the filed of science, engineering, architecture, biology, agriculture, political and many other fields.far fetched images proved to a remarkable feture.

                                John Donne

John Donne was born in 1572 in London, England. He is known as the founder of the Metaphysical Poets, a term created by Samuel Johnson, an eighteenth-century English essayist, poet, and philosopher. The loosely associated group also includes George Herbert, Richard Crashaw,Andrew Marvell, and John Cleveland. The Metaphysical Poets are known for their ability to startle the reader and coax new perspective through paradoxical images, subtle argument, inventive syntax, and imagery from art, philosophy, and religion using an extended metaphor known as a conceit. Donne reached beyond the rational and hierarchical structures of the seventeenth century with his exacting and ingenious conceits, advancing the exploratory spirit of his time.
John Donne was an English poet and cleric in the Church of England. He is considered the pre-eminent representative of the metaphysical poets.
He is considered the pre-eminent representative of the metaphysical poets. His works are noted for their strong, sensual style and include sonnets, love poems, religious poems, Latin translations, epigrams, elegies, songs, satires and sermons. His poetry is noted for its vibrancy of language and inventiveness of metaphor, especially compared to that of his contemporaries. Donne's style is characterised by abrupt openings and various paradoxes, ironies and dislocations. These features, along with his frequent dramatic or everyday speech rhythms, his tense syntax and his tough eloquence, were both a reaction against the smoothness of conventional Elizabethan poetry and an adaptation into English of European baroque and mannerist techniques. His early career was marked by poetry that bore immense knowledge of English society and he met that knowledge with sharp criticism. Another important theme in Donne's poetry is the idea of true religion, something that he spent much time considering and about which he often theorized. He wrote secular poems as well as erotic and love poems. He is particularly famous for his mastery of metaphysical conceits.
John Donne is unanimously acknowledged as a true metaphysical poet because he made an unlike conceptual thought against the Elizabethan poetry, showed an analytical pattern of love and affection and displayed an essence of dissonance in words and expressions. This paper concentrates on the exploration of the characteristics of Donne’s metaphysical poetry highlighting extended form of epigrams, conceits, paradoxes and ratiocinations. Donne in respect of the manifestation of metaphysical beauty was an unparallel and super ordinate among all poets such as Richard Crashaw, Henry Vaughan, Abraham Cowley, George Herbert, Andrew Marvell and many more. Donne, in fact, gave a breakthrough about the initiation of a new form of poetry-metaphysical poetry. He was natural, unconventional, and persistently believed in the argumentation and cross analysis of his thoughts and emotions through direct languages. He also concentrated on love and religion through intellectual, analytical and psychological point of view. His poetry is not only scholastic and witty but also reflective and philosophical.
                                Quotes
No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent.
Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankind; And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

No spring, nor summer beauty hath such grace, As I have seen in one autumnal face.

Ø How is Donne's life reflected in his poetry?
well by observing its Several major events in Donne's life--his marriage, his conversion to Anglicanism, his wife's early death, illness, and his elevation to the Deanship of St. Paul's--can be seen in his poetry. In a more complicated way, one can draw inferences about which religious doctrines Donne may have been most fascinated by or skeptical about, considering carefully what he writes when treating various doctrines.
By looking through his work we also have to look at the aspects of ‘love’, we all know the mean and also somewhere feel it. Most of the time we imagine by this nature, rose or the spiritual aspects but in metaphysical poetry we see other rout, means something unknown things in this presenting  matter to somewhere other experience let’s question it then discuss it.

His best known work of metaphysical poetry

·      The Flea
·      Death, be not proud
·      Sweetest Love
·      The sun rising
·      The Dream
·      The Ecstasy
                          The flea

The flea by john donne is a unique example of the metaphysical poetry.Donne has here used a biological image of the flea to deal with the theme of love The flea is a far-fatched image to deal with the theme of love because the theme of love has nothing to do with his biological image of Flea an isect.in this poem lover tries to conveince his beloved by giving the example of Flea. The Flea become an image for the expression of love in the present pome.
The poem is made of three stanzas and the very first stanza opens with the lovers attempt to conveince his beloved  by giving the example of The Flea.
Donne’s use far-fatched images to be found even in the present poem images like Flea,Walls of jet,Cloistered,Nail and Grudge make this poem a metaphysical poem in real sense of the term
                     Death,be not proud

Death be not proud is one of the holy sonnets by John Donne.in the present sonnet Donne wants to shohw that death is not something to be ofraid of and death is not mighty or powerful either so there is no need for any person to be afraid of death.
The sonnet opens with poet’s address to death in which he warns death not to be proud. The poet want to say that death offers sleep and rest to every person and so joy is to be derived out of death.and also he say death simply offers rest of body and soul is delivered to new body so there is no need for anybody to be afraid of death.
The poet here gives one example of the best people of the world who have also died in course of time.
The  poet concludes the sonnets telling that is should not be proud because death is nothing except one short sleep and after that short sleeo we get up ones again with a new body, new life and new enthusiasm.if death is accepted in such manner, there will not be any death at all and death it self would die.

                                 Sweetest love

“Sweetest love I do not go”by John Donne is a poem dealing with the theme of love.the central idea of this poem is that death can not separated true lovers.Death can only destroy the body of true lovers their soul can never be separated by death. This truth about love is presented in this poem.
The poem opens with the lover’s assurance to beloved that he is going away from her not because he is tired offen.or because he has found a better person to live life.the lover tries to convience her not to be sad by giving the example of sun.the sun ehich disappeard last night has come back this morning aganin and in the same manner he would come back again to meet her.
Lover says to his beloved in her company he can easily face the moment to separate him from her their soul will always be together.

                The sun rising

The sun rising by John donne is a good example of the metaphysical poetry.this poem deals with the theme of love and express this thing,Donne makes use of far fetched images.the poem has three stanzas in it.and each of the three has got in it metaphysical conceits.
                             The dream

Johan Donne Elegy with the title ‘The Dream’   is about a lovers confession on his love for his beloved and the different between dream and reality the poem opens with comparison between the lover’sheart and coin The poet has used image of coin for expression of love. The way of a coin is impressed  With the images of the kings, The heart is impress the of the image of beloved. The way of images of king a science value to a coin her images of give a humor a important to his heart. The lovers says that only though who are weak  in these spirit  bother honor he does come for because he believes that her images has given owner to me.

The Lover going ahead in this confession Manson that when she goes away is resigning ends there is beginning for the emperor for fantasy. The love is opinion that fantasy cannot give him the joy of that height which real present can give. The reason is the joy of given by fantasy is convenient and proportional the real arrival has the capacity of giving joy of shock. If the lovers dreams he would like to had the dream about her real present and not just grimy about. The lovers consider sleep a great escape from pain because sleep locks the proses of thinking. Then the lover gets up after his he wake up his sleep he want rape of the end of dream.

In this last stanza very must such idea and great imagery of lover thing here I put one images this reference of this idea

He would like to sonnets on his believing in stand of passing weakling up thought his believing. They consider himself groom with her love. He would like to be called mood in her love rather than in an idiot without love of none.
                         The Estasy

The Ecstasy by Johan Donne is a poem about define and spiritual experience in love. The pain of love and his beloved which we find in his poem has reached such a high of love. The poem is addressed by the lover who describes in detail the experience of ecstasy love.

Here the poem Donne is great idea of love and thinking of wonderfully explain that how do you love highly of nature and impress of life. Both the lover and his beloved set for the whole day on the bank of a river in the same manner as a bed as always a company of pillow. These two images in the very opening of the poem qualify the committed – they have set on the bank of river hand, though no words exchange between the two. Their four eyes became one and get tide up with an indivisible thread. Both realize an exchange of words between their souls though body doesn’t speak. The soul of both speak  the same and listen the same and so the lovers find  it difficult to realize what exactly is exchanged between the two both the knowledge that it is not love of body ,for a body. It is beloved two souls.

Their ECSTASY makes them aware at the truth that body is their but they are not body. It is here that the meeting paint takes place between ‘THE GEETA’ and spiritual love of the lovers. The lovers considered to such a Devin experience of love is possible anything greater and higher in love to achieved. It is this experience of ECSTASY which love accepts as the happiness of god almighty

Wordsworth's Preface to Lyrical Ballads

differance between classicism and romanticism:-

They are tow ideologiest it is something more than mennar.
In classicism intellect is work as a main source, also in this writerrs write about city, urbenlife etc...that's why they belived in intellect and also objectivity.

In romanticism we can see that writer use imagination as a guiding source.
They are free to write anything. They belived in objectivity.

Poetic diction:-

In poetic diction, diction means choice of word.
Poetic diction means style of writer they use in poetry.

In wordsworth theory of poetic diction refers the style of writing used in poetry, like linguistic sttle, vocabulary, language, mertaphors and etc...

What is poet?

First of all poet means a person who composes.

In worrdsworth preface he say a man speaking to a man is poet.I think also who has gift of thought, imagination and creation call as a poet.

we can see that poet has a greater knowledge of human nature becouse when any poet start writing poetry firstly he or she try to conect his or her self with objects, they fell what object feel in real and than they write poetry

Deffodils - a case study to exemplify Wordsworth's

poetic creed.

Wordsworth write Deffodils in romantic period.it is one of the best famouse work of Wordswort.

This poem is an example of defination of poetry because in this poem he speek about past and present both tense.and stanza of poem conveys recollction in tracquility.

Let us sum up:-

Wordsworth view in preface to lyrical ballad.it whs a new begining of new era.Wordsworth express himself in lyrical ballad and he showed that how his poetry is differ from Neo-classical.

S.T.coleridge

Poem and Prose:-

They both are decide by use of language.
Quality of words make the line poem and prose.I think both are same contain but major different is object.Poem has a expression feeling,idea,diction,imagenation,meter,rhymes.ect...
Prose has a simple and regular way.
Poem give the knowledge but prose the truth, imformation etc...

Poem and Poetry:-

AS per my thinking poem and poetry both are almost same.
Poems werw based on poet's imagination but acording to Coleridge poem is about joy and pleser.and poetry has not rhyme and meters like poem.

Dryden's Essay

Q1- Do you find any difference between Aristotle's definition of tragedy and Dryden's definition of play?

Yes there is huge difference between Aristotle's definition of tragedy and Dryden's definition of the play. Aristotle gives the definition in a very conservative manner. he says that "tragedy is an imitation of an action that is serious and also having magnitude complete in itself...." and he ended his definition with the word 'catharsis'. Whereas Dryden gives the definition of the play in a wider sense. he added two new words in the definition that is just and live. He says that a play must represent just and lively image of human nature. And he ended his definition with the word 'delight'. he added that onlookers will feel good if we ended our play with delight and instruction of mankind. In this way Dryden moves further from Aristotle's ways of thinking and thus differentiate his work of art.

Q2- If you are supposed to give your personal prediction, would you be on the side of the ancient or the modern? give reasons.

I would like to be on the side of moderns. Yes it is true that moderns somehow imitate things from ancient, but not whole things they imitate. They present some new ideas as well, regarding the present situation which ancient cannot do. So as like Eugenius I favored moderns over ancients. Eugenius says that the moderns exceeds the ancient because of having learned and profited. We knows that the ages and their rules goes on changing and moderns are supposed to live with changes in their lives.

Q3- Do you think that the arguments presented in favor of the French plays and against English plays are appropriate?

No, I do not think that the arguments present in favor of French plays against English plays are appropriate. Here I want to take side of Neander who favors English plays. Lisideus argues that English tragicomedy is very absurd, "in two hours and a half we run through all the fits of bedlam". But it is not true, in real English plays are very lively by nature, it has plot subplots which we do not find in French plays. French plays are like lifeless and doesn't have subplots as well. There is narrowness of imagination, smallness, too little action in the French play according to Neander(which represent Dryden himself). So therefore I found the English play more appropriate.

Q4- What would be your preference so far as a poetic or prosaic dialogues are concerned in the play?

I would like to go with poetic dialogues in the play. There are two critics who argued in terms of rhymes and blank verse. Crites favors blank verse style of writing whereas Neander favors rhyme.  Crites says that rhyme makes the play unnatural, if someone use rhymes then the naturality of dialogues goes out. But what Neander says that if we choose appropriate word at appropriate place, then there is no point of unnaturality. Same thing what I feel that to use rhyme makes the play more beautiful and live. It affects the reader's soul if we used appropriate rhyme. So the poetic dialogues are more capable to make readers active and live than the prosaic dialogues which sometimes bored a lot.

HEMLET:-Thinking activity

1.How faithful is the movie to the original play?

I thought movie is quite faithful to original play that  whole personality of characters, especially of Hamlet  revealed by the movie . psychology of character revealed , which understood much than play . though some editing in dialogue most of same as play so movie is quite faithful.

2.After watching the movie , have your perception about play, character or situation changed ?

After watching the movie , my perception about Hamlet quite changed that while reading the play I thought Hamlet's melancholy and hesitation  is to much but in movie which situation Hamlet have to face and forcefully he have to do such a thing like murder , as a good son for his father's  revenge.so Hamlet  faces  melancholy.this thing changed after movie.

3.Do you feel 'aesthetic delight while watching the movie ? If yes, exactly when did it happen? If no, can you explain with reason ?

I thought there is no much aesthetic pleasure in movie, when at the grave of Ophelia , Hamlet came there but soldiers don't  know him as a prince of Denmark.so they said it is a deadbody 's  grave and making laugh on it.                                                                                                                             .

4. Do you feel 'catharsis ' while or after watching movie ? If yes, exactly when did it happen? If not , can you explain with reasons ?

There is a element of catharsis in movie.when I see Hamlet 's melancholy  I feel  catharsis and also for Ophelia on her madness , she used by her father and brother and Hamlet also insulting her said 'go to nunnery' . Hamlet's  frustration for revenge.this scene bring catharsis.

5. Does screening of movie help you in better understanding of the play?

Yes it is very much useful to get the play properly and in right way. At one point it can power up our imagination to get the setting, situations and the mind set of character by his expression.  Audio visuals can effect more than 'Only reading', as we can remember easily what we have seen than what we have read.

6. Was there any particular scene or moment in the movie that you will cherish lifetime?

There are many scenes in the play which are very beautifully directed, but the scene in which Hamlet follows the ghost and the whole conversation is beautifully directed, there is various emotions mingled together, there is delight, terror, revenge, shock and the feeling of hatred in the eyes of Hamlet, and the expression of the ghost and his effective voice, his tone is so effective.

7. If you are director, what changes would you like to make in the remaking of movie on Shakespeare’s ‘Hamlet’?

I feel that there is no need any changes in movie. Because movie is wonderfully presented by Kenneth Branagh. Movie is also faithful to play so I feel that there is no need any changes.

8. In the beginning of the movie, camera rolls over the statue of King Hamlet out side the Elsinore castle. The movie ends with the similar sequence wherein the statue of the King Hamlet is hammered down to the dust. What sort of symbolism do you read in this?

Symbolism is one of the narrative technique. Director use very well this technique in his movie. The first and the last scene of the kings statue outside the castle symbolizes the ' circle of life'. Power never remains stagnant. It keeps on changing. Downfall is necessary to know the real value of power.

9. While studying the play through movie, which approach do you find more applicable to the play? Why? Give reasons with illustrations.

We can observe many approaches in one on the other way. I feel that psychological and formalist approach is more applicable. In such scenes of play Hamlet is with his mother and when he is going to take such decision towards his revenge with Claudius, many times he finds himself helpless. In formalist approach, all about trapping each other.

10. Which of the above mentioned approaches (in Pre-viewing task) appeals you more than other? Why? Give reasons.

In the play, formalist approach is appeals me more than any other approach. There is vast difference between "seeming" and "being" in all the major characters like Hamlet, Claudius and Gertrude. All are pretend as they are right and good but all has some kind of devilish intention. There is a question of " knowability" of characters in play.

DOCTOR FAUSTUS

Q.1  The play directed by matthew dunster for globe theater ends with this scene (see the image of lucifer.) what does it signify ?

Ans. In the last scene of play Dr. Faustus caught alone in his study waiting for the
devils to come and take his soul. we can see the wide wings of lucifer it signify power of evil and in the and evil wins it shows his victory.

Q.2  Is God present in the play ? if Yes, where and how? if No, why ?

Ans. Yes, God has present in the play as good angels and friend and as old man. God tries to help faustus one or the other way so faustus think himself powerful. we are find in this play god is present in the mind of Dr. faustus. and also shows in this play when we doing something wrong it's against to god.

Q.3  What reading and interpretation can be given to this image (see the image of  daedalus and lcarus) with reference to central theme of the play. Dr. Faustus?

Ans. This picture of daedalus and lcurus is Greek mythology. Daedalus was father of Lcarus. lcarus ignores his father's warning and he was destroyed and fall down so he was responsible for his own fall. similarly in this play Dr. Faustus ignored warning of god and his own inner voice he ignored everything for become more powerful so he was responsible to end of his life.

Post truth

 Meaning of post truth :-

Relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief.
'In this era of post-truth politics, it's easy to cherry-pick data and come to whatever conclusion you desire '

'Some commentators have observed that we are living in a post-truth age .'

Truth inot it's absolute form,an ideal. We have "SATYA MEV JAYTE "in our judiciary, a motto.
But in reality, truth has many faces. We may say that each one has his own truth.

"POST-TRUTH"is a word , which suggests that 'Around the truth, but not exact truth. 'Everything else except the truth is post-truth.

Gobbels is known for his propaganda -He believed that ever an untruth, said hundred times, looks like Truth

India is a nation of post-truth, since long.
Amulya Gopalkrishnan, columnist for The Times of India, identified similarities between the Trump and Brexit campaigns on the one hand, and hot-button issues in India such as the Ishrat Jahan case and the ongoing case against Teesta setalvad on the other, where accusations of forged evidence and historical revisionism have resulted in an "ideological impasse."

1) Colonial discourse in Robinson crusoe

This novel is full of slavery system or colonialism which is very dark side of history and we never want it to heppen again but in this novel we can see it clearly.
crusoe is central character in this story. crusoe suggest friday to call him as "Master'' so indirectly friday became his "SLAVE" colonialism seen in how crusoe trite friday as a slave here crusoe reflect the attitude of English Man.

             Relationship.
Crusoe never accept Friday as friend he humiliate friday and trite as servant. Friday was very emotional man but crusoe doesn't care.

Anti-colonial  elements  in the film :

The most important change in the film that shows anti-colonial nature. In film Crusoe became Friday's friend. We can see strong bond between Crusoe and Friday.
In film Friday argued with Crusoe in every point. He never allowed Crusoe as his master,he never accept Crusoe's culture, his religion, his clothes.
These all points shows anti-colonialism while original text is totally opposite from film.

peheredar piya ki

                             Peheredaar piya ki

peheredaar piya ki is indian telivision serial that was brodcast on sony TV.it premiered on 17 july and ended on 28 august 2017.this story is written by niranjan iyengar and directed by amandeep singh

.
I am opposed of this serial. I do not like its concept. For me 'Pehredar piya ki' is like an accident or a dream it is such a wonder. Just nine years CHILD gets married with double aged girl. It is an awful concept of child marriage which is banned in India. How can a little boy romance with a girl.this kind of story deteriorates society. India is known as a nation of youth so this kind of fantasy ruined youth. This is regressive for society.
